Banjo SN 0012

This is another example of my lightweight banjo design.  The banjo features a maple and cherry pot with a turned maple flange to eliminate the need for metal "L" shoes and an ebony wedge replacing the modern metal hardware attaching the neck and pot.  The owner collects arrow heads and sent a picture of a head he had found. I reproduced the shape in pearl and abalone on the headstock.  In addition, abalone position markers and side dots were used on the ebony fretboard.  The neck uses Five Star tuners, a capo spike on the 5th string, an exposed truss rod nut in the scoop, and a bone nut.  The pot has a fiberskyn head, Vega style arm-rest, a handmade moon shaped bridge, and a No Knot tailpiece.  The finish is a smooth french polish that feels great.  The instrument has a beautiful tone and jam-worthy volume!
