Banjo SN 0015

This is a whyte Laydie Ashborn style pot made from curly maple, birdseye maple and cherry.  A Renaissance head gives it a loud and bright tone.  A hand made maple and ebony bridge, No-Knot tailpiece, and Vega style armrest complete the pot.  The neck is made from beautiful curly maple with a cherry strip in the center and heelcap.  The exposed truss-rod in the scoop is blued.  The inlays include pearl dots and side dots with a small pearl star at the 12th fret and a large engraved pearl star in the headstock.  The banjo has 5 Star tuners and a bone nut.  The back of the peghead has a nicely carved volute. This banjo is setup for clawhammer with string spacing of 3/8" at the nut and 7/16" at the bridge.  As you would expect of a Whyte Laydie, it has a wonderful growl and sustain. You can hear me play it on Youtube by clicking the link below.
