Banjo SN 0017

This banjo is walnut and cherry with a 12" Tubaphone tonering.  The pot has 26 hooks and is a block style rim of walnut and cherry.  The bottom cap of cherry is shaped to conform to the curve of your body and is a bit wider on the inside of the pot to form a ledge.  Both of these features help make the banjo very comfortable to play.  The head is a Renaissance and the bridge is a hand made compensated model of maple and ebony.  There is a Vega style armrest and a No-Knot tailpiece to complete the pot.  The neck is also walnut and cherry and has an ebony fretboard, headstock veneer, and heel cap.  The tuners are 2 band Gotoh tuners with black knobs.  I used a bone nut and put in small pearl fretboard markers and side dots.  The owner plays three finger style banjo and so he wanted to have as many frets as possible while still getting a frailing scoop, so I put in 19 frets.  The scoop also has an exposed truss rod nut.  This is a serious banjo, with plenty of power to stand up on stage.

You can hear the owner play Nashville Blues with this banjo on Youtube.
