The Sasquatch Fretless

I was very excited to receive a custom order for a fretless banjo with a sasquatch theme.  The fun starts at the scoop, which is shaped like an actual foot print where the beast's big and 2nd toe landed on the board as it marched up the neck to the headstock.  As it moved up the board, it left white pearl prints at the 3rd, 5th, and 7th frets, until its image was finally captured in black pearl on the headstock.  On the back of the headstock, the owners initials are inlayed with black pearl in an ebony oval and then the oval is inlayed into the walnut and birdseye neck.  The 12" pot is walnut and birdseye maple with a wood tonering of Katalox wood from Mexico.  Katalox is a dense wood similar to ebony.  The pot has my dual flange Ashborn style rim and is finished with a hand rubbed shellac finish. Of course, the banjo has an exposed truss rod nut in the beast print scoop.  I thought it was appropriate to use bone for the nut and 5th string pip as well. The head is a fiberskyn and the pot is finished off with a Vega style armrest, a No-Knot tailpiece, and a cherry and ebony bridge.  This is a one of a kind powerful fretless banjo.  You can hear it played in the linked video my wife and I made of  Ida Red.
