Banjo SN0024, 12" Walnut Whyte Laydie

This banjo has a 12" ashborn flange pot of walnut with an ebony cap.  The raw brass hardware starts with a brass finish Whyte Laydie tonering, tension hoop, and hooks.  A fine coffee stained goat skin head adds to the wonderful tone and is beautiful as well.  A hand made maple moon style bridge sits on top. The neck is also walnut with an ebony strip, a 25.5" scale length, and a boat keel heel.  It has 17 frets and a scoop with an exposed truss rod nut.  The tuning machines are raw brass Gotoh 2 band tuners mounted on a striped ebony headstock with an engraved pearl star.  A bone nut, abalone markers, and pearl side dots complete the neck.  The finish is hand rubbed shellac and feels great.  I am very impressed with the tone and power of this banjo!  You can hear me play Jeff Sturgeon on Youtube.
