12" Maple and Cherry Fretless with Katalox Tonering

A while back I made friends with a guy on a turning forum who sent me two fretboard sized pieces of something called Mountain Mahogany.  I have kept those in my fretboard stash for a while and finally decided to build a fretless with one.  It is a 12" maple rim with a katalox tonering and a cherry cap at the bottom.  I put a coffee stained goat hide on for the head and it sounds great.  Because of all of the beautiful wood I had for this one, I went with a blond shellac finish without any stain.  I think the brass hardware looks great with this combination.  The beautiful curly maple neck with a cherry stripe shows off the amazing mountain mahogany fretboard.  It has a cherry slothead headstock and cow bone nut and 5th string pip.  The scoop has my signature exposed truss rod nut.  It is a really fine banjo!
