Shop Tour

Many years ago the shop was once a two car garage.  Then it became a combo one car garage and workshop.  Soon, the one car was exiled and it got pretty messy in there... With the career change, I needed a real place to work!  I got busy finishing projects and tossing out junk that needed to go.  I bought a big pile of wood and built the carriage style doors on the front.  They add a lot to the place and we like them.

Grizzly Lathe Upgrade to 3 Phase Power!

I just finished an upgrade to my Grizzly G0462 Lathe. For details, Click Here!
Below are a few pictures of the door building process:

This provided a level support to construct the doors on.

One of many dry fits required to build each door. The joinery is all mortise and tenon, so they are good and strong!

After assembling the panels and the cross brace.

A bit of detail I saw on some high end doors. I liked it and so I incorporated it here.

A pile of wood. Soon to be 4 new doors!

You can see a little more detail of the center stile. I built them with the inside facing up. Click the picture for a larger version.

Oh yeah... and the window moulions as well.

One down, three to go! The blue streak is painters tape on a piece of metal flashing I installed on each door. Click the picture for a larger version.
